		<description>Martha the new ones are different and cook a bit faster than the old ones from the 70s.  I still have one of those and have used it continuously for 30 odd years.  Now you don&#039;t appliances like that anymore.
They used to suggest for some brands that you fill it with water and cook on high for an hour initially so you wouldn&#039;t get the metal taste.  I never had that problem with mine though so I can&#039;t vouch for it.  I haven&#039;t heard the new ones having that problem though.</description>

When I used a crock pot and the recipe called for meat and onions my dish always came out with a can taste.  Are the new crock pots better and do they prevent this.  I especially had this problem with beef and pork.
